Judith Zambrano’s husband, Ismael, says that although the reality of their daughter’s condition was difficult during the early days of her life, the atmosphere in Alabama, the heart of its people, kept his spirits high. He is adamant in his conviction that America is a land of opportunity, where citizens have few excuses for not getting ahead.

As an immigrant, and undocumented one no less, he works his hardest to make sure he and his family do.
